“You never lose until you actually give up.”
Quote from Mike Tyson: the former undisputed world heavyweight champion and the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title at age 20 years, four months, and 22 days.
Holyhead and Anglesey Amateur Boxing Club

Age: 13 years old.
A Typical Summer Session
The Holyhead and Anglesey Amateur Boxing Club is situated on Vicarage Lane in Holyhead and is just a stones-throw from Newry Beach. Sessions start at 6pm and generally finish at around 7:15pm. Summer training is used to prepare amateur boxers for the upcoming fight season, which starts in September.
Upon arrival at the club house, the coaches would assemble everyone together and we would run down to Newry Beach and along the sea front. When we got back to the club house, we would start our boxing training with warm-ups. We would then progress into some partner work (sparring without contact), bag work, and then a final closing circuit. Dependent on the coaches objectives for the session, boxers would be selected for ring work. The exercise was non-stop for the entire session. This resulted in great aerobic conditioning and I felt physically fit and mentally alert.
I trained three times per week at the club. I enjoyed the atmosphere immensely. The coaches were excellent. I missed the club when I had to leave the Holyhead area at the beginning of July 2016. I was hooked on boxing but unfortunately I was unable to keep up with my training after my arrival in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There are many clubs that offer Muay Thai but I couldn’t find any amateur boxing clubs.
A video presentation of a typical summer session at the Holyhead and Anglesey Amateur Boxing Club is presented below. I am wearing a green t-shirt and black track suit trousers.
